Data Genau collects
- Email address, used for one-time sign-in codes and account support.
- Account identifiers, session tokens, install identifiers, platform, and app version.
- Review progress, including word state, answers, misses, due dates, and activity days.
- Support messages you send to [email protected].
- Crash reports, when the app or the server fails unexpectedly: the error, where in the code it happened, the app version, and the device model and operating system. These are not linked to your account, and they carry no IP address.
The app does not need your name, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location to teach vocabulary.
How the data is used
- To send sign-in codes and keep your account secure.
- To sync your review schedule between the app and Genau's server.
- To show progress, activity, known words, and due reviews.
- To diagnose support issues and respond to requests.
Sharing and processors
Genau does not sell personal data and does not use advertising SDKs, and there is no analytics in the app: nothing is recorded about which words you study or how you use the screens. Data may be processed by service providers that run the app infrastructure, deliver sign-in email, host the website, or distribute the app through Apple App Store and Google Play.
Crash reports are processed by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), which is used only to find out what broke. It is configured not to collect personal data: no IP address, no account identifier, and no record of what you were studying. Sentry stores this data in the European Union, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while your account exists. Sign-in codes expire quickly and are stored only as hashes. Refresh tokens are stored only as hashes. When you delete your account, Genau deletes the account and associated learning data unless retention is required by law or needed for security.
